Dengue virus (DENV) is considered to be the most important arbovirus, owing to the number and severity of human infections worldwide [1] affecting 390 million people worldwide every year [2]. Among them, 2 338 848 suspected dengue cases were reported by the Americas alone in 2016 [3].

However, the recent introduction of two new arboviral diseases: the chikungunya virus (CHIKV) in late 2013 and Zika virus (ZIKV) in 2014, has created a new challenge for public health in the Americas.
